Path Ideas
Whether you're just beginning or looking to deepen your skills, each private lesson is centered around a project you care about. As you build, you’ll naturally gain in-depth experience with tools and techniques—learning them when they matter most.

The first session includes an overview of the shop, tool safety, and a conversation about where you’re at as a maker—and which direction excites you most.
  • Ages 8-15
    Kids & Youth
In lessons with kids (ages 8-15), I will work through a curriculum that I have developed that starts with simple projects and grows in complexity. It only uses hand tools and aims to teach the tooling and skills through hand on approach.
  • Adults or Kids
    Foundations
Start here if you're new to woodworking or want to build confidence with the basics. You’ll get hands-on experience with essential tools, materials, and techniques while creating simple, useful projects. This path builds a strong base for everything to come.
  • Adults
    Technique & Process
This path is for those ready to focus on specific skills—like joinery, shaping, finishing, or hand tools. We'll work on projects that help you refine technique, build accuracy, and understand the “why” behind the process. Great for those who want to level up intentionally.
  • Adults
    Design & Build
Have an idea in mind? Whether it’s furniture, a gift, or something totally your own, this path is all about bringing your vision to life. You'll learn how to plan, sketch, problem-solve, and build with purpose—getting support at each step of the journey.
Mission
I believe making things by hand—like music or art—connects the mind and body, encourages curiosity, builds autonomy, and fosters emotional, intellectual, and social growth. It allows us to give back and contribute. To make that special person or ourselves something with our own two hands.

I strive to meet the maker(you!) where they are at, come along side them in their journey. Handwork can be very accessible, it could be a workbench at the end of your bed in your studio apartment or a massive shop full of the latest and greatest tooling. There is no right or wrong approach, and if I can be a catalyst for you to start making I would love to help.

I am calling this mission to teach and bring craft to others The Handwork Initiative
